what are the reputable coin graders?

which companies are reputable coin graders?

I would like to get some coins graded and I was hoping it wouldnt be too expensive.

what is the typical charge to grade an uncirculated silver eagle out of us mint box?

PCGS is the only one I might buy.

In a recent thread someone said the cost of getting a SAE graded would be about as much as the coin cost to buy.

So you came out with coins valued higher than what you spent altogether or no?

overall i wouldnt do it again.

i spent $8300 on the 20 gold coins and grading.
after i sold the 20 coins and including all fees involved with selling, i sold the coins for $8400.....so i wasnt thrilled with my experiment...not enough money to be made and too much potential for loss with bad grades.

Yeah, that's only a 1.2% gain.

and a damnable waste of time.

yet, a worthwhile experience. if you learn from it!

I just sorted through half a brinks box of 50 cent pieces. took me and a helper about two hours and we moved fast. got ZERO silver ones. unless I hit pay dirt in the remaining $500 I will never repeat this exercise again. it will be fun for no return and only a loss of time exactly once. I wont make the mistake again. times too precious-

anyhow it's PCGS and NGC and ANACS. all the rest are second tier if good and the third tier are just silly as far as I can tell. I just bought a lot of mixed slabbed coins off ebay and the only ones graded right were PCGS and NGC and ANACS. the rest were laughable.
